Questions teachers ask
Do students need accounts or email addresses?
No. Students never sign up or type anything personal. The teacher is the grown-up: they open the builder, choose how each kid is credited (first name, initial, nickname or none) and publish the class's games.
What does a class need?
A computer, tablet or Chromebook per kid (or per pair) with a web browser. Nothing to install and nothing for IT to approve beyond visiting our site.
How long are the lessons?
25 to 50 minutes depending on the age group. Every lesson works without devices, and the game design lessons can use the studio's free picture choices in a web browser. They fit Hour of Code week, a club meeting or an indoor recess.
Is it really free?
Yes. The lesson plans and the studio are free, with no sign-up. Print and share the plans for teaching as much as you like. Publishing games to the arcade is optional.
Is it safe for young kids?
There are no ads, no chat, no accounts and no tracking. Kids build from our own library of kid-friendly pictures, and a real person on our team plays every game before it goes on the arcade.
